Product Development Manager - Aerospace & Defense

Role Overview: The Product Development Manager will oversee and manage a comprehensive training program that spans the entire product development cycle. This role involves designing and delivering training sessions, mentoring engineers, and driving excellence in product design and development. The focus will be on integrating simulation-driven design, optimization, PLM systems, and Six Sigma methodologies into the product lifecycle to enhance engineering capabilities and streamline workflows. The program shall also involve assisting engineers in developing a small scale product prototype.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead project-based training programs integrating prototype development, ensuring alignment with industry trends in engineering simulation, digital prototyping, and rapid manufacturing.
  • Design and deliver training programs covering the entire product development lifecycle, including PLM, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), sensitivity analysis, PIDO, and SPDM.
  • Provide hands-on training on product development processes, utilizing cutting-edge tools and methodologies.
  • Guide teams in integrating simulation workflows with PLM systems for improved process management and design efficiency.
  • Lead optimization and simulation projects, applying statistical and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams in simulation-driven problem-solving and prototype development.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to structure projects that balance innovation, feasibility, and manufacturability.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the training curriculum, ensuring alignment with emerging technologies, industry best practices, and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in  Aerospace, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in product development, lifecycle management, optimization, and project management, preferably within the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) sector.
  • Strong familiarity with integrating simulation workflows into PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
  • Good to have: At least 2 years of experience delivering technical training in product development and management.
  • Good to have: Hands-on experience with Ansys tools such as OptiSLang and Minerva or similar industry tools is desirable 
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor and guide multidisciplinary engineering teams.
