Internship: Lab Technician – Structures Lab

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lab Assistant / Research Assistant for state-of-the-art Structural Testing facilities. The candidate will assist in performing structural tests, preparing samples, operating testing equipment, and analyzing results. The candidate will play a key role in assisting engineers on the product development process, prototyping, and experimental evaluation related to material and Structural Testing.

This hands-on internship is ideal for graduate students (Master with research / PhD) and/or recent graduates having practical experience (2 to 3 Years) in Structural Testing laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble test setups, including fixtures, specimens, and instrumentation.
  • Operate testing equipment like load frames, strain gauges, and accelerometers under supervision.
  • Conduct mechanical tests (tension, compression, fatigue, bending).
  • Record, analyze, and document experimental data with precision.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment.
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and clean lab environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers to optimize testing procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of structural mechanics and material properties.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., load frames, strain gauges).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
